Checkpoint Kids

At Providence we believe children are a blessing because the Bible tells us so. We believe that consistently teaching children God’s truths and principles while they are young is vital to raising young Christian men and women in today’s world. The Bible is clear that this teaching is most vital in the home. The Word is truly effective in the lives of children when taught and practiced consistently in the home, anything the Church does to help and reinforce is icing on the parents cake. In Proverbs 22:6, we find a wonderful guarantee, as the Bible promises that children whose parents train them up in the Way will not depart from it. At Providence, our children’s ministry is geared toward supporting and equipping parents in this God ordained role of discipling their children in order to see true multi-generational faithfulness in the family of God.Our ministry in encouraging families at Providence is based on three main weekly events; Family Worship, Churchwide Worship, and CheckPoint.

Family worship happens in your home, we recommend at least three times of quality family worship per week, though daily is best. This is where discipleship happens, dads and moms are the teachers. The styles of family worship vary per family, sometimes it’s reading Scripture or a great Christian book, singing, prayer, or all of the above.

Churchwide worship happens at 10am on Sunday mornings, and at Providence we know the value of multi-generational interaction. So for the first half of our meeting, your children come with you to join the rest of the Body in family integrated style worship, which will include times of singing, prayer, Bible reading, and testimony. Our preschool and nursery services are still available for you during this time if you want to utilize this ministry.

CheckPoint happens during the adult teaching time, where children K-5th grade ages can move on to a short time of teaching and encouragement. Our teaching aims to encourage and remind the children of the importance of obedience to God’s Word and to their parents, and reminders on how to live godly as little Christians among those with whom they have relationships. In CheckPoint, students are rewarded for godly disciplines that are a result of family worship and discipleship in the home. Every volunteer in our children’s ministry is reviewed, entrusted and approved by the elders. Our children and your children’s safety and care is highly important to us.
